We got our caravan this week, which is great. We knew it would be a squeeze in our drive. We only have 70 cm left at the side. Bearing in mind that children and their friends will be squeezing past with bikes etc/wheely bin room and neighbours car using the shared driveway, this is not an ideal option with a high chance of damage to the van. So its currently sitting in our front garden, not a particularly good look. Been checking storage but it's so expensive. There's one really close but won't be secure enough for our insurance. Running out of ideas but may have to swallow the £400 storage cost and is miles away..... feeling annoyed

Shop round for storage. You may save a bit and it doesn't have to be that close. The cost will be small beer compared to the cost of repairs or lost value on your caravan which will inevitably be damaged.

The bonus of storage is that thieves will not be signalled that you are away every time the caravan is not parked on the drive.

We offer storage in Wiltshire £300 upwards.

I've got gold level storage that got me almost a 100quid reduction. Yes pay 400 a year but in reality thats less than 1 pound a day.

If it fits in your front garden & its out of the way leave it there, why pay for storage if you don't have to?

It really dosen't matter what neighbours think. Provided there is no enforceable covenant(& most arn't enforceable)forbidding caravan parking on your property you can park your caravan on there & save your money.

If you get a cover in a nice dark green, the caravan will be a lot less noticable

We live on a corner plot and have put two concrete runs onto the side lawn for our tourer. It keeps it off the drive and, when the car is on the drive, makes it very difficult for anybody to tow it away without setting off the car alarm first.

If I were you I would save £400 on storage and spend a little on landscaping the garden as you say you have plenty room. If you make it look presentable then the neighbour's will be less likely to have any thing to gripe about. And you can gain some space to avoid damage

I'd put something under the wheels & corner steadies & leave it on the garden if it were mine. Our neighbours curtains twitch every time a bird flies across the road here so I wouldn't give them a second thought. If they all got up in the mornings & went to work for a living they wouldn't have to watch me out of their window.

Erm don't know how that figures, personally I'd rather have a large marshmallow to a huge green snot.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!

I have a green cover on mine over the winter, and it does make it a lot less noticable for some strange reason.

We have a large driveway, would have loads of room.... if we didn't share it! 17

when we have it at home it fits on your front lawn, no bother, but it's square on our front window, so we have a beautiful outview, of the backend of our caravan!!

i don't mind in the summer months as it's used so often, but when the trips trail off it goes back into storage, it's only just 10 mins, so we load the car and collect it and go from strorage, only bringing it home for loading if going for more than a weekend.

we have negotiated a in/out of season rate as we don't use the site in season.

we also used to have it on a farm, and before we knew better we stored it there, insurance didn't like the fact it was a working farm, and upon quoting at locked storage sites, realised the farm was so much more expensive!!  so get lots of quotes.

Thanks everyone. Owennicki, we also have a shared drive. It Would be prefect if It was ALL ours! ! There's so little storage in our area and most of them only do full year. Going to look again at winter storage!! I'm actually starting to get used to it right outside my front door lol

I`ve got a shared drive, with a garage at the end by the back of the house which I sold to someone from Warrington. It makes for excellent hard standing . . .and I now have somewhere else to put my feet up! The garage just HAD to go . . .
