I have found a porch awning on ebay which is in keeping with our old van.... Item no 271271726459.
Caravan measures approx. 230cm from rail to drive, atm I have only found one measurement for the NR Riva porch awning which stated to fit 221-236cm... Does anyone have one of these please, or is able to confirm that it will fit? As long as it fits and stays put that's fine by me, it's only for the dogs.
We are going away tomorrow and forecast is rain, rain and more rain. Am dreading putting up the full awning in it, will be the first time we have done it on site. A cheap n cheerful porch awning us a must-have for future trips!
Awning measurement is worked out by measuring from one end of the awning right the way round to the other end.... , any porch awning should fit almost any caravan as they arent the full length of the van, just a bit of it, so a porch awning with a size of say 250cm would cover 2.5 metres across your caravan, not the full way across, sorry if ive not explained very well or misunderstood your post but im not sure you are looking for the right measurements x

We have the original full awning but we're looking for a porch awning, my understanding was that the measurement for a porch awning is from the awning rail to the ground? I know we will have to take into account the width but my main concern is getting the right height. As I say, it's just a dog room really! For speed and ease when the weather is poor.
ooops, sorry Lmhaig, i didnt realise there was a way to measure for a porch awning, feel a bit of a div now as i say, i am a newby and still learning. learn something new everyday though xx

Saz, me too! No need for apologies.
I just thought I'd try on here, everyone seems so knowledgeable and willing to offer advice. I do try to answer posts where I can but I'm sure you know what I mean when I say that most times I am unable to help!
We will learn...it is def a learning curve but an enjoyable and interesting one. :)
I used to have a riva porch, if they say it will fit a height of 221-236 and your caavan is 230 they it will fit your van. It would be great for drying the dog down in when it is wet, but for anything more I have my doubts. The height includes the part of the mud skirts that usually folds inwards and if you are close to the limit the bottom section flaps round a lot.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Thanks Bill!
What do you mean when you say you have your doubts about it being used for more than drying the dogs down please?
We were actually planning for them to sleep in there too!
Do you mean that the mud skirt provides an escape route?

It did on mine, i also used to find that in cold wet weather there was a tremendous amount of condensation inside and the ground sheet never dried out.
