I/we've never yet been to any of the caravan shows and we are categorically not thinking of buying a new caravan, no way, no how, no sirree..!
However, absolutely hypothetically speaking, if we did happen to find ourselves accidentally rather liking a caravan (like an Elddis Avante, perhaps!) and being curious as to what we could get it for, is there really much difference in terms of the deals available from show to show? Is the NEC show next month the best one, better than the Manchester one in January? Or do the dealers offer much the same deals from show to show, and probably on their own forecourt if you bargain hard enough ..

I have never bought a new caravan but it is like any sales negotiation beat them down as far as you can (walk away they will chase you) get as many extras as you can free stuff fitted or accessories. Sales men have a set bottom price that they can sell a unit at but will through extras in. Haggle hard and don't look to keen or desperate remind them they are not the only dealer out there.
And don't even think of a trade in sell your van privately you will get at least 20% more than a dealer will offer.
good luck
Andy

Thank you both! I'm hopeless at negotiating - I probably should take my MIL with me, she's fab (if I was actually intending to buy anything, of course!).
What I'm curious to know, though, is whether the discount available really is any better at the NEC than elsewhere ....

Take the phone number of a local dealer and call from the show. Bet they come close to anything you get at the show, plus none if the travel for collection and inevitable warranty issues.
