After many years of tent camping we have recently, almost on a whim, bought our first caravan - a 2005 Hymer Nova 435. We never thought we'd own a caravan but now we're tremendously excited about it all.

We haven't used it yet as I have the small matter of the B+E driving test to get out of the way on Monday. Shortly after that (fingers crossed) we'll be on our way to Norfolk for a few days to lose our caravan virginity.

So hello from us and expect lots of dumb questions as we immerse ourselves in this new world.

We are newby's, been away once last month in our 1994 Elddis Jetstream... loved it sooooo much... wont be going away again for a long while though as life has got in the way :-( Enjoy caravanning, i love it! x

Exciting times ahead good luck with the test, I took mine in may. It's not that bad, just nerve racking. Enjoy your new baby, I've just got back from my friends house, they picked up their first caravan tonight, knowing how much enjoyment caravans give, I'm soooo excited for them!

Thanks for the welcome everyone and yes the B+E test isn't until Monday with my first towing lesson on Friday morning *gulp*.

Being newbies and unfamiliar with the workings of the Hymer we've already made one daft mistake - buying blue AND pink chemicals for the bog when I've since learned that it's actually flushed from the main onboard water tank.

In fact the water system/connections in general are very confusing but I'll post separately for help with those.

Buy the green fluid - environmentally friendly, smells nicer, easier to wash off your hands & surfaces, biodegradable and goes in top and bottom tanks.
