There are some advantages to using the blade type stabilizers.
For one thing it puts more weight on the tow hitch with actually adding weight to the front of the caravan.
Secondly, if you are using your tow ball to pull other types of trailers, you do not need to clean your towball between units.
Personally I prefer the blade type as it is easier to maintain and its function is easily checked during the van's annual check up.
