I had this problem a few months ago with my Reich mover, got to the point where we were changing the batteries in the remote every time we used it, but were buying fairly cheap ones from the pound shop. We then got a bit fed up with it and booked it in for a mover service at our local dealer who originally fitted it to our caravan, it did improve, and they also changed the remote batteries to some Agfa heavy duty ones.
Fast forward 6 weeks and we trade the caravan in and the mover gets swapped over onto the new van, this time its on the opposite side of the wheel arch, the battery has been checked and its still fine, but a comment made by the engineer who did the swap got us thinking, maybe we had been a bit heavy handed in how tight we wound the rollers onto the tyres, and we had been in effect using the roller as a break?
So we now only give it a couple of turns as soon as contact is made, dont use cheap batteries in the hand set, these should last about a year, approx20 uses, make sure that the caravan battery is fully charged before using. Result is like we have a different mover fitted, fingers crossed that it stays that way, oh, and caravan tyre pressures can make a difference to mover performance too, especially if they are rather flat and not at recomended presure.
