Hi so we've had 2 trips out in our new caravan & I'm not happy with bed set up :o(
We have a crusader superstorm & it has L shape seating at the front. The bed set up is really annoying. The slats don't come out far enough for the 2 back cushions 2 lie together. They fit but only just & tend to flop over a bit if you lie to close to the edge. Also they separate a bit when you move about because they don't fit snug up against the small cupboard where the tv stands. It's also uncomfortable to lie on. I'm really annoyed after paying a fortune for a "top of the range" caravan. Surely more thought should have been put into this? I've tried wedging a scatter cushion down the bottom where the cupboard is, but there's nowhere to wedge another at the top. I'm thinking of getting a mattress topper, but we're short on storage in the van even though its suppose to be a 6 berth. Has anybody else got this van or one with L shape seating? How do you get around this problem?
Thanks janx, it's a shame because its such an easy bed to set up. I've had numerous layouts over the yrs & this has been the quickest to make. Hubby's ok because he has the long back seating to lie on with just a ridge where it meets the other long cushion.
We have L shaped seating in our Abi Dawnstar & like it as it gives us more floor space for the dog's bed. At night we have 3" memory foam toppers as I have a bad back & would have these in any caravan, they make sleeping v comfortable. I bought a double topper & cut it in two, got an old double duvet cover, cut that up middle & sewed sides so have 2 single toppers & covers instead. For us storing them during day is a pain in our 2 berth but we roll em up, secure with flat straps & 1 goes in boot of car, the other in our clothes cupboard, some people stores theirs in a stand alone shower cubicle. Hope you get it sorted.
We have a swift L shape seating , love it , no problems at all, every thing fits snug, I'm assuming you have tryed it all ways including turning the seats upside down ?
Well I've had a little play this evening & have managed to make it more comfy by turning the seat cushions around & flipping over the 2 back cushions so the rolled edges face outwards. I'm still having to wedge a cushion near the foot end to stop it separating though. How bizarre that they didnt design the slats to butt up to the tv cabinet? Thanks for the advice peeps ;o)
We have a L shape lounge and the 1st time I made the bed up we felt as if the cushions were separating so now I put the 2 back cushions next to the window and the large cushion at the end and a mattress topper on top, never had any problem hope you understand what I mean .
we have L shaped seating, no problem with the bed set up, we have a little square cube, that fits in the gap where the tv is thus ensuring we have no movement with the cushions when the bed is made up
had a buccaneer Elan years ago with a L shaped lounge. Found the bed was only 4' wide . Luckily TV unit shelf was at the same height as the bed slat runners so I made extra slats and had a piece of foam cut to fit. We then were able to sleep lengthways . Width was increased to 7'!.
