Hi all I hear on the grapevine that another manufacturer is making ATC.but I have no other information apart from its being trialled at the moment
Anyone else heard about this as apparently going to be about half the price.
I wonder if its to be presented at caravan exhibition in Birmingham?

Any information would be welcome as I have been quoted £750 for my van which I think is a bit OTT

many thanks
Jason

I would of thought that any ATC type system is going to be a fairly complicated piece of equipment - hence the £750 price tag. (although I thought it was available for more like £550)

Many people pay around that price for a motor mover and surely that is quite basic compared to the ATC.

I would be great if this 'new system' is half the price, but I will believe it when I see it !

There are already two systems available, but both are linked to the chassis manufacturer.

There is also the Knott ETS system that has type approval.

That makes three that I can think of, maybe there are one or two more including the Alko, BPW and Knott systems. I do recall that some car manufacturers were working on integrating trailer control systems with their own systems to combine the effect of trailer control with stability control on the car as a package that also uses the brakes on the car to correct the snaking should it occur. VW and BMW are two that I can think of.

Hi Jason,

I've got a spare ATC in my garage for sale. I bought the wrong one at first so had to buy another. The one I have is for a caravan with an MPTLM of 1301kg to 1500kg. I wasn't the right weight load for my caravan hence having to buy another one. They are easy to fit I did mine myself and it works great.

Yes it's the Al-ko ATC unit 1301kg to 1500kg. Everything included to fit to the caravan. If you have a Swift caravan from 2010, it just plugs into the C44 fuse board, if the caravan is older or non Swift, you just need to connect it to a permanent live and good earth. via the 12S plug.

PS It must also be an Alko chassis.

If it's an Alko chassis it should fit. The unit is used I bought it for my previous caravan then found I had the wrong weight unit so had to buy another with the correct weight rating, it's been in a box on the shelf in the garage ever since. These are very easy to fit and there are a couple of video's on youtube to show how to install it, the video is in German but you get the just of how to install it.

On another point, I was talking to an Alko guy, at the NEC last year who was demonstrating the ATC, I asked him how it was that you can buy the ATC off the shelf and fit it yourself in Germany, but not in the UK, He couldn't answer that question apart from saying it was all to do with money ????

HTH

Graham

You and Graham are not that far from one another via the M50. Maybe if you take the caravan down there and sweet talk Graham, maybe he will help fit it for you.
If it is any help, I have known Graham for many years and can vouch for him.
