We have recently bought a 2009 Elddis Xplore 474 and it's going back to the dealer this Friday for them to take a look at a couple of niggles.

One is regarding lifting of the stick-on laminate of the front window sill. We have a single large window and after washing the caravan last weekend it seems that water can get in, puddle onto the black/grey seal at the bottom of the window and overflow onto the sill. The sill is lifting at both ends so I imagine it depends on which way the rain is blowing and how level the 'van is side to side.

Hopefully the dealer should sort it but I wondered if anybody else had had the problem and how was it fixed? My guess is that the seal isn't tight enough so water is sucked into it through capillary action and it then runs down the inside of the window edge.

At first we thought someone had spilled water from a glass but I've now seen the water sitting there myself.

The other problem is that we can see daylight through to top corner of the door. I'm told that's just a case of adjusting the fit of the door hinges.

Had the same issue in 2011 with my last van, turned out that the window rubber had gone hard and allowing water through, dealer changed the rubber under warranty and all was ok. The door just needs adjusting

The rubber seal seems soft - maybe too soft at the bottom where it's easy to push a finger into it which may be the problem.

I dropped it off at the dealer this morning for them to investigate and fettle the door too.

A quick update...

I fetchd it back from the dealer this morning. They've moved the front window blocks further in to tighten the window seal, stuck down the bubbling window sill laminate and adjusted the door so daylight can't be seen.

However, they've advised us that we have damp in the left-hand wall next to the front window due to a leaking seal at the nearside corner. It's going back in for them to sort in a couple of weeks. I've taken a reading with my cheapie damp meter and it returns 34% in that area.

Not great for a 4 year old caravan but if you read a variety of forums that seems par for the course these days.

Know what your going through, just had repairs on my van, damp issues found after 2 years from new.

Would be interesting to know what percentage of new vans have damp problems.

Hope you get sorted soon.

A friend of ours has just had his 2010 crusader back after replacement of all three front window seals. This was done under warranty nd he was toldwas a common fault.
