Hi All. I've been a member of this site for a few years now as a camper but not been on for a while. Just finally been persueded to move over to a caravan by our regular site owner who ofered us a caravan at a price I could actually afford. Were now the proud owners of a 1999/2000 Lunar Solar 524. Stayed in it a couple of times now and dont think i'll be going back to tents. I think the wife would kill me if I did after tasting the caravan. Heard a lot since buying the caravan about "leaky Luna's" but no sign of damp at the moment. The inside looks like it has been well looked after. No stains, upboards and seating are very clean and tidy. Heater, fridge and cooker all working. So, Im hoping we have bagged a bargain for our first caravan. Got no plans to tow it, had it placed on a seasonal pitch and will see how it goes.
Thanks Jeff, seen a lot mentioned about damp meters. Lots of people seem to suffer damp in their caravans but equally as many who dont so im guessing it's the luck of the draw.
Were certainly enjoying it. We intend going for weekends whenever work doesn't get in the way. Were planning on going again this coming wednesday till Saturday. Were living in Grantham and the caravan is in Scarborough so were only a couple of hours or so away.
I never get fedup with scarborough/Whitby area. Earlier in June we took our daughter and son in law. Son in Law decided to sign me up for "Go Ape" in Dolby forrest near Pickering. Good job I didn't know what it was. Be a good adventure for you says Son in Law. Yeh right. 60+ years old and i was climbing rope ladders up tree's, walking across rope bridges between tree's, Tarzen swings into vertical cargo nets,Climbing up the nets and zip wires from 35 metres up at its highest point. Bearing in mind I have, correction had a fear of heights. Mind you nothing will beat the grin on my face at the end when I had completed it. The grin soon ended though, walking across carpark and tripped over a dog. Yeh you heard right. Young Girl had a dog on one of those xtra long leads and it came up from behind me and walked across the front of my legs. I ended up face down on the carpark. Good job I can laugh about it now.
Enjoy it, just sit back and relax. Im sure you may want to tow it eventually, if it hasnt been moved for a while a service would be in order just to make sure its ok to tow.

I love Scarborough though never been with the van went with parents when young then with my own kids 32 times in total..will need to go back some day.
That would be before caravans were invented then Jeff|?
Thanks everyone. It's a bit of a learning curve at the moment but i'll get there. The site owners/staff have been great with their help and advice. If I am to tow it i would need a new car first. According to the web info my Zafira 1.6 petrol does not meet the 85% ratio. It's great not having to book before we go, load the trailer, drag everything to the site, put the tent up with the swareing and cursing that normally accompanies erecting the tent and the reverse when we leave. Now I pick the wife up from her work, drive straight to the site and everythings virtually ready. We dont lose most of the last day either having to pack up the gear. Should have converted to caravan sooner.
