We went to the show last year just to look around and ended up buying a new caravan. Absolutely no regrets whatsoever, been away for 3 week long holidays and several weekend breaks and we intend using it throughout autumn and winter.
We're off to the show again on Sunday 20th to have another look around. We will be looking at awnings (note to self we do not need a new caravan however tempting it might be).
We went in February and ended up with our imulse buy of a van (we were tenters) then had to buy a tow car!!!!! No research into what is a good van but just saw this (sitting in it in Padstow right now!) and fell in love. We have done 10 weekends and this is our first week long holiday!
Going to the NEC to get a deal on the protector coating.....maybe, and I want some of those awning chanel protectors to stop the rain marks.......but as I went in Feb to look at tents and bought a van who knows what I'll come away with this time!

We went last year just to buy a Awning tensioner ( honest ) ended up with a new Elddis Avante. We were in shock when we sat down for tea, went to spend £20,ended up spending£17000.
I keep seeing a lot of names from the tent threads that have "accidentally" bought a caravan at the NEC. All I can say is beware of going for a look around!

We are going on Wednesday, looking for an awning for our first caravan that we bought last month after many years in tents.......I'm sure that we find the odd impulse buy as well!!
Well if you've been to the show and ended up buying a new van then you have the money to do it so why not enjoy it! Life's too short and you can't take it with you!
robin52.we actually didn't have the money. Sadly I was made redundant through poor health after 30 years . So a dealer very kindly gave us a fantastic deal,we're I made the decision to use quite a lot of my redundancy,so my wife and family had holidays for the foreseeable future. But you are correct,I cannot take it with me,and to date have had a fantastic time in our new van. Cheers Scoobz .
robin52, you are so right. We have worked hard and saved hard, mainly so that we can have a comfortable retirement. Then out of the blue ill health hit. Luckily we have worked through it but it made us realise that it's good to save for the future but also live for today.
