Hi well we bit the bullet & sold our superstorm. We only had it a month! Hubby bought it in haste & it just didnt suit our Family. We couldn't move in it, it was a double dinette with a large side bathroom & wide kitchen. It just felt claustrophobic :o( we had 2 outings in it & argued like hell! Anyway so the good news is we got our money back on it. Now we're going back to a fixed bed model & was wondering what anyone thought of the Adria 612UP? It's quite a large tourer on a single axle. Does anyone know how they tow? Are they stable? Any particular faults we need to look out for? Thanks in advance.

We have an Adria 542DT though not a fixed bed. Ours tows well due to the longer A frame at the front. Everything works. Faulty overhead light fixed under warranty without us even noticing that a couple of led s were faulty. Beds are of a good length in ours. We moved all the beds round, made them up and with our shoes off tried everything for size. Enjoy. We do not regret buying ours.

1700kg on a single axle, I would want another axle under there.
Is it right on the 7m body length legal limit?

If you have a fixed bed wont you be getting less space to move around in?

Goto the dealers and spend a day in one.

Hiya, we also have the DT, love it. I've not much to compare to as I've only towed this van really but OH says it's the best van he's ever towed. Friends of ours have the UP and it's lovely, feels very roomy. Good luck in your search keep us posted :0) there are a few of us on here with Adria's and so far (touch wood) we all seem pretty happy!

Think this is what is called the Rhine now and seems to be a nice layout. not sure if the bathroom is a compromise though.

As far as towing and stability our 542Dt tows very well and is very stable. Obviously it will need a decent size and weight car for best towing so a large saloon or 4x4 best.

As you will see if you search Adria are one of the few brands who seem to have almost unanimously positive support from owners. They aren't perfect but they are well put together so you won't be as worried come service time i would suggest.

Hi, we have the Fleetwood Sonata Symphony 2007 model that is the same caravan as the Adria, it is badged Adria on the weight plate.  The only difference between the Fleetwood and Adria is that the Fleetwood has a different interior, shock absorbers,  alloy wheels, drop in carpets etc.

We have owned ours for 4 years , well built, no trim has fallen off or broken yet and we have 3 young kids.  The only things that have gone wrong with our van is the gas burner on the Thetford fridge rusted out and needed replacing, Truma bulkhead regulator blocked/failed and Matador tyres failure (both of the these last faults are common place on any caravan).

Husband says towing is easy but then we do tow with a VW T5.  Sometimes we struggle to get enough nose weight even with two 7kg calor gas bottles in front locker.  Longer a frame is good for climbing on to clean front of the van.   The caravan is plated at MTPLM 1700kg but the MIRO is only 1290kg so you have loads of habitation weight to fill it up with!

We love our fixed bed. When the kids go to bed we either sit in the awning or lay on our bed to watch TV.

We do a lot of rallying and always manage to shower and use the toilet with no problem, even if the compartment is relatively small.

All in all, this is the best caravan we have ever owned and would certainly buy another if we needed to.

Thanks all. Hey Janette we have a vw t5 too ;o) I really like the look of the caravan but hubby has this thing about single axles, like they're the anti-Christ or something! He thinks they'll snake all over the place. Very stubborn he is. When we sold our hobby & wanted to go back to an English caravan he chose the superstorm purely on looks. He said "I don't want an English tourer & if I do it's got to be a crusader superstorm". Well that backfired on him! We've never been in such narrow living space. . If hubby hadn't put such a big deposit on it we would have walked away. He was convinced it would be fine & the sellers promised it was in excellent condition. He was so disappointed when we arrived after a 3hr trip & found dings in the exterior & how grubby looking it was inside.

Hi Bigbrood, we have never experienced snaking with our van, but then we don't go over 60 mph, always check nose weight and are loaded evenly throughout the van, I am not saying it could not happen but we have never experienced it.  I think the longer drawer bar helps with stability.

The only thing I would say is we are a very long outfit and when you pull in the services we have a longer train length than some artics.

The other good thing about buying an Adria is that you are not frowned upon going on a commercial site as some will not allow vans with doors on the other side!  I think we have best of both worlds, a decent built non british van but without the reputation of being foreign travellers!

Hi Jannette,

I's sorry to be replying to a 10 year old post, but I was hoping that you may still have your Fleetwood Sonata Symphony 2007, which is the same as the 612up. We have just bought a 2008 612up and love it - the layout is perfect for our family of 6 with 4 children aged 1, 5, 8 and 11.

The reason for my message is a question about the from bed made up from the U shaped seating area, which I can't find answered or discussed anywhere online. How are the cushions configured? I have used the extra infil piece along with the 2 longer back cushions to fill the table top to make the bed complete which worked well last weekend which was our first family outing. I am just not sure what to do with the extra read seat cushions during the night. Are these intended for use elsewhere such as on the bunks? If not, are they designed to be stored anywhere when the bed is in use?

I've been thinking about it and just can't work it out! I managed to put them around the van but they just got in the way. The 3 I'm referring to are the curved ones and the middle one from the very back of the U shaped seating.

Sorry for jumping on such an old post!

Thanks,

Simon

The bed sounds as if its a bed without those extra cushions.

Presumably they can just remain where they are.
