Just got my new UK sites book and price list for 2014.
Massive price increase.... Example..... 2013 mid season price for 2 nights hard standing with service at Ebury Hill Shrewsbury £24.30.
2014 price £37.70.Add to that the change in booking conditions.... A minimum cancellation notice for a full refund is up from 7 days to 30
It gets worse.... My partner turns 55 next month so would have qualified for an age related discount. Not any more they have increased it to 60

Needless to say i will not be renewing my membership and will return my book and membership cards having cancelled my direct debit. I thought British Gas were robbing B*st*rds but this lot are just taking the mick.....
I'll see what the Caravan Club has to offer at the show tomorrow.

Have a look at the article in the magazine about the new charges, if I have read it correctly you would still qualify for the age related discount. The relevant bit is on page 19 at the bottom of the middle column.

The prices are now difficult to understand and it makes it hard to work out how much your trip will cost.

If you are between 55 and 60 you can still sign up for the age concession by showing proof of age and having their card stamped before 21 July 2014, so your partner can still claim it.

The bad bit is that the concession has been reduced to 25%.

Still loose loose loose to me though compared to 2013.
And yes the 2 tier pricing is very confusing and i will be taking this up with them tomorrow after they've made us a brew

Then its over to CC stand to compare pitch prices.

How is anyone to understand this stupid system they have changed to. Now we are all expected to have a computer when no ALL want or need to it is up to them. Yes there is still a massive highway robbery being done to all members and I do get age concession at nearly 70. I have no intention of putting money into the admins or chairmans pockets for a wage increase as it takes us long enough now to get it all together to go away.

DISGUSTED

Considering they sell the ACSI cards, it would be a massive step in the right direction if they accepted them too.
Camping fees here are so out of step with the continent that I just wince and pay up in the UK.

Not having camped abroad and never will I have seen and read a fair bit. Although we cannot compare with the countries across the channel as we are far too small to have them the same size etc. The do seem to be a far better deal and weather also.

So we stay in the UK. I have just written to them and told them what I thought of their big site book without having any prices inside as they used to. It either mean everyone has to have a computer which they do not or having to make expensive phone calls and get them to book, be told the price only to get the shock then on how much they have pushed the prices up. They are not THAT good are they. Anyone would think they are all worth it when we have seen some which are definitely not up to scratch. This year the showers at Moreton & Chichester well quite frankly I could wee quicker than pressure of the water that they have coming out.

Beanpark - the prices are in an enclosed separate leaflet, methinks it's so they can revise it easily if they need to, rather than reprint the whole book!

Greetings,

Back of a fag packet stuff so don't come howling if I'm one or two out.
Fact. There are 109 sites
Fact. There are 4 Charging Bands.
Fact. Over 55's get a discount of 25%

Therefore there are 436 combinations of Site=Price (109 sites x 4 Charging Bands)
Of these the DG says that 56 sites will be lower in Low Season and 38 Lower in High Season.
That's 94 of the Site=Price Combinations.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE OTHER 342??? I THINK I CAN GUESS.

Who does the DG think he is talking to? His choice of
selective choice of sites to quote lower prices is going to fool only the simpletons of this world. His use of political gobbledegook, where he assumes that us world wise people will believe that, because he announces that one site in one season (Alton in High season) will be lower, they all will?, is either naive or downright embarrassingly disingenuous.

In addition, if you are in that 'Twilight zone' of say 52-54 years of age, not only are you going to work for longer than you were hoping to in the future, you will also have to pay more because your Age Concession you were hoping to get has been whipped away from under your nose.

And then, to cap it all, we have a new system where, unless one books in advance, you cannot know how much a site is until you arrive. The 'From' and 'To' pricing system ensures that. Oh! and don't cancel your booking WHATEVER THE REASON less than a month in advance because you won't get your money back.

Not even 5* sites in the height of the season have such a cavalier approach to pricing. They announce the price at the start of the season and that's the price it is.

I'm sorry if the year 2012 was a washout with many people quite rightly cancelling rather than spend a soggy weekend in their tents or 'vans but that's where a Club??? should be better than a commercial organisation and take it on the chin. Weather happens, get used to it.

Perhaps the Club??? could introduce a mandatory insurance scheme ala Hoseasons to cover all those people who haven't got the ability to use a crystal ball and work out when someone will be ill and die without the requisite notice. I'm sure that will be a good money spinner.
(I've just realised I'm giving them ideas, I will go stand in the corner)

I could go on. I know I haven't mentioned everything but the CS Owners can be assured of a bumper year next year.

So can the ferry Companies as we all debunk off to the Continent where such a money grabbing attitude doesn't exist.

I know what I'm going to do in August next year. I'm going to save my membership money.

Even us 'Wrinklies' who have the Concession have had it eroded to the tune of 5%. (PLUS HOWEVER MUCH THE SITE FEE HAS GONE UP) What happened to PRI CPI and all the other index's used to measure inflation.

And then, to cap it all, we have a new system where, unless one books in advance, you cannot know how much a site is until you arrive. The 'From' and 'To' pricing system ensures that. Got to correct one thing. Age concession is now 25% not 30%.
But right its money money tight fisted in this day and age I would of thought they would try to find a way to help out not burden and get less members as it certainly looks like they could have a lot leaving.

I wonder if they will have a re-think as it could be the stone rolling down the hill is not going to stop rolling until half the members have left, then try to put it right .....maybe just too late then.
