After getting cold feet over a brand new caravan (don't want the finance over our heads) we've decided to buy another second hand caravan. We are going to view a Lunar lexon this weekend. Does anyone own one or know much about these vans? I've had a little look through the old posts & someone mentioned the heating isn't very good. Is there anything else I should be aware of like known faults or places that are prone to damp?
Thanks I've decided against that 1 now. Something just didn't sit right with the seller. Oh well keep looking I suppose. I was hoping to get something for half term.
Greetings,
Got a Lexon now and had a Lexon before.
I don't know how anyone can complain about the heating because it's the same type of heater that is fixed to all the others.
The only proviso I would make to the above is that sometimes, in all 'vans and, because of the layout, the warm air pipes go out of the 'van to traverse under the door to get to the front.
In those circs and identical to all other vans you have to lag the pipe in order to prevent heat loss.
------------- How come when some people visit the fountain of knowledge, they only gargle!!!
I had heating problems in winter with mine . It was bought new about 5 years ago. The problem was that the pipes carrying warm air from gas/electric fire wemt out under the van and re entered half the length of the van away. So the colder it was the more heat you needed and the more it cooled off en route and the colder it was coming back in through the vents . Otherwise a nice van.Just could not use the van in winter because the warm blown air was cold.I sold it for this reason. The dealer was intensely disinterested.I did lag the pipes but the improvement was small.
Haha rant away mister G. We could have got over the problem using our electric heater I suppose. I have asked the seller to send me more pics & a photo copy of his CRIS paperwork. He promised to send them today but didn't bother.
I have a Lunar Freelander 640. Same layout as the Lexon 640? Our blown heating works ok but I find it heats up the cutlery drawer so I don't use it. The heater itself works fine and heats the whole caravan in a few minutes. I like the van and will be keeping it for a few years. Not bothered about blown heating.
Fred.

There are a number of Lexon models and we had the 640 with the island bed.
