We originally bought a 15 year old Thompson T Line. We had new seat cushions made. I made new curtains, and as I didn't need a lot of material was able to buy really good stuff. We also got an off cut of carpet, again really plush. The battered cupboards and old gas fire and stove were part of it's charm so they stayed. I washed the interior walls and kept the windows clean and it looked really smart. We had it for 10 years when the windows finally gave up hope!

I second the LED lighting, use warm white.

Car cig lighter type sockets are a useful addition
Swivel LED spotlights are useful for reading in bed
We had an old van . And we bought throws . We always use them any way. I made new curtains quite easy to make . Get some pretty cushions. rugs I'm always buying rugs for ours. Ikea is good the range and dunelm . I used to put butterflies on my ceiling over the front window because it looked drab. They were from dunelm and like feathers. also a ladybird . But there is some lovely bunting around now. Out side some pretty solar lights .
Even though we have a new van now And still use throws rugs and cushions . I think the older vans have much more character and you can make then so pretty.
Good luck.
we have done the following on our 2006 abbey aventura:
remove faded curtains and stored for later when we sell
used throws from wilko secured by tying elastic on the reverse to recover dated seats
replaced cheap cupboard handles with metal t-bar ones... £20 off amazon
painted bathroom white, with anti fungal bathroom paint, as the pattern was very outdated
removed green carpet and replaced with a neutral runner style rug from wilko
new cushions with coordinated modern design
put up some pictures to de-beige the walls (with velcro pads so as not to damage them)
the van now looks like many of this season's models on the inside and our neighbours have all commented on how large and fresh it is on the inside... and it didn't cost much
latest addition - Habitat side table from Argos in the l-shaped lounge is perfect for drinks and snacks and takes up much less space than the folding dining table
my friend has just revamped a 20 yr old van, done such a good job we are thinking of getting one.
She used flowered fablon and has decorated the inside of the cupboards doors fronts which had pealed. She has also put new carpet down, new curtains and covers and replaced the cupboard door handles.
She also cut some really thin perspex and stuck modern wallpaper to it pattern facing on to the plastic and has fitted it as a splash back around the kitchen area.
Looks brilliant and she's made it look more modern and I think she only spent £175.
