Hi I'm looking for a second hand caravan that will fit in my garage which has 2.3 meters clearance - I'm having a tough time finding one in my price range (up to £1000)

We can't afford a pop-up caravan or the teardrop. We just want a standard caravan which is a bit lower than the usual 2.5 meters

Am I out of luck? Do they exist?

Also, I've been looking for a list of caravan models with their height dimensions, either in book form or web. If you know where I could get a list like this please let me know

I don't think you will find that vans are even "the usual 2.5 meters". That might well be the roof height as my two last ones were but then there will be a flue, skylight aerial etc above that value.

Have you checked available length in your garage? We have a pretty long garage but our pop-up is too long, and its not by any means the largest.

Might answer your problem before you start.

Unusual South African built poptop going cheap here otherwise you can sometimes find old Rapido poptops going cheap on ebay. Another to look out for is the Dutch built Kip Kompackt, you will sometimes see 80s 'vans going cheap, not that common in UK though.

thanks for your input - my wife spotted the south african one as well and we might be bidding for it

The Kompackt looks interesting also

Looks like we might have to go down the cheap pop up route and wait patiently for one to "pop up" on ebay :-)

any other ideas please post!

Sprite did a pop top that was about the size of an Alpine they tend to go quite cheap but are quite good.

Otherwise I would strongly recommend the largest Dandy which is much nearer to a caraven than any other folding camper and which is not only insulated but cana be folded and storedwet without any detriment
