So caravan is insured for third party when attached to the car via car insurance
Caravan is not insured for public liability when attached to the car via caravan insurance
So who cover the caravan if it gets damaged cos I hit a wall whilst towing ??? Or is it just not covered
Am hoping my insurances cover me I assume they do put always panic lol
When attached to your car your caravan is insured by your car insurance for third party claims, so this is in effect public liability because you car/caravan outfit is insured by your car ins. for any damage caused by your own fault in the course of an accident to people or property.
Even if caravan became detached during towing you are still covered because it would be regarded as no different from, say a roofbox becoming detached & causing third party damage.
Your separate caravan insurance covers you for damage caused to your caravan for whatever reason while it is being towed.
reading through the policy if the van hasnt been attatched correctly you arent covered do other car policys state this ?
Jack+Jon who would pay out for the caravan damage ? (i hasnt happened am just curious)

If caravan detached itself while being towed for whatever reason then you are covered. The exclusion makes no sense as caravan insurance excludes third party cover while being towed as it is covered by the car insurance. It would certainly cause an argument between car & caravan insurers.
As pointed out previously, damage to caravan is not covered by car insurance so your caravan insurance would pay for that.

After our unfortunate experience at Leek C&CC our insurance is paying for Patsy to be fixed. Very common, they said.

many years ago turning on a tight corner the rear end of the caravan scratched the wing of a new car.the car insurance paid for all car repairs.there was no damage to the caravan to be seen,if there was then the caravan insurance would have paid for the repairs.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
