A £17,000 caravan which was stolen when its owner was visiting Leicester has been found six months later in a back garden on a city estate.
Police had called at the house to arrest a man who was wanted on suspicion of committing offences in Nottingham.
They saw the caravan in the garden, discovered it was stolen and decided to seize it. However, as another caravan was in the way and the garden was small, it took them four hours to remove it.
The caravan had been stolen from expatriate Linda Cox, in May, police said. The caravan – a Fendt 2013 model Saphir 540TK – was stolen while it was parked outside her sister's home in Shanklin Drive, Knighton.
Excellent, the insurance co. can auction it to the highest bidder & use the proceeds to reduce our premiums.
One hopes the thief recieves a punishment comensurate with the aggravation/upset/expense this theft will have caused the owner...But I suspect he won't.

Not amazing, and not a lucky coincidence, just some good policing and a bobby checking databases correctly. Shows that CRIS works when property is checked.
What's betting the owner of the garden said something like " not to do with me who put that there!"

According to the report, the police were attending the property to interview the suspect on another matter and noticed the caravan in the garden. As far as I am concerned that is a coincidence
I doubt whether it was CRIS registered as it was a German van and they were only here on holiday.
