We have had to claim on our insurance we damaged the side of the caravan (awning poles)
so too cut a long story short the insurance gave the all clear to the repair this was the back end of September but then no contact so I phoned them 2 weeks ago they seemed confused that the work was not completed so I phoned my repairer for him to say he needs the go ahead so I phoned them again explaining he will not start till he gets the go ahead till he hears from them (how could he) so I phoned him Saturday he still has no letter or Email from my insurance is this normal practise from insurance firms this is the first time we have had an insurance claim I will not name & shame the insurance company at the moment
Did you get a written quote from the repairer?
When I made a claim the loss adjuster needed to look at the damage, I sent a photo by e-mail, they then told me to get a written estimate from my dealer, I did and sent it off. A couple of days later I got a copy letter from the insurance company to the dealer authorising the repair with a reference no. Phoned the dealer and booked the van in, repair done, then signed a form to say the repair was done to my satisfaction and sent that off to the insurance company and paid the dealer £50.00 excess, insurance paid the other £900.00
yes got 2 quotes in writing did all the paperwork loss adjuster approved the repair then he said insurance will sort it out with the repairer that's it still waiting
Had a claim 3 years back ( road debris damage) - took van to dealer, with ins. details, claim ok'd within 48hours and repair done just 2 weeks later.
Caravan Club insurance.
Also many years ago had to claim for damage on Ferry and claim was sorted likewise.
