Hi, just wondering if anyone knows whether you can alter/reduce the size of a vintage awning? I have a 1971 Mini Glen caravan and am looking for a vintage awning for it. The smallest I have seen is for a 10 foot caravan, but the Mini Glen is 8.5-9 foot. I am quite handy with sewing machines/textiles but not knowledgeable about awnings.
Any advice would be gratefully received!

You cut 2 V slices out of the material and sow them back together.

This leaves the front width at 10 foot but reduces the size where it fits the van.

My sister bought a van and the awning had been been altered like that.

Another vote for Canvas Repair Centre

As you are reducing the size there obviously won't be a problem matching the canvas, if you get it done I would ask them for the pieces they have cut out in case of future damage which may need a patch.

You may find an awning that fits a freedom microlite would fit.

All the removed fabric is taken from the roof, typically narrowing two triangles that abut the side panels.
You can't make big changes, the limit being about a metre from the "A" length at the most.
Older awnings originally designed for "boat" roof caravans would be better than an awning for a modern flat roof caravan with its high awning rail. That effectively means a pre mid nineties awning being the more suitable.
