Am considering buying a tourer, have previously owned one quite a long time ago but..........................
I now have 3 children (3, 5 & 7) the 5yr old being autistic. He likes to climb etc and am concerned (with spending a lot of money) that the interior will be broken, shelves pulled off the walls, blinds pulled out, curtains pulled off and other items damaged by enthusiastic behaviour.
So if I do go for a tourer, is any manufacturer more robust than others and is my memory of internals being flimsy correct or just a trick of the mind!!!!
Wanted to avoid buying and then not enjoying holidays as forever picking up broken bits from the floor!!
If i was you i would buy an older cheap van then i would not worry about things getting broken. When they leave the nest or want to go with pals on holiday thats the time to treat yourself to a modern van or....just put them in a home and go off yourself

Nothing is that robust in any caravan, all makes use common interior fittings/appliances. Your best bet is to buy an old one off ebay for a few £100s, that way a few dents/scratches don't matter.
We got cheap n cheerfull with a 3 n 5 yearold. Doesnt matter if things get dented or broke to much. You want enjoy your hols not keep nagging at them to behave!
When ours our older then we will look a newer one!
Good luck enjoy.
Agree get an older van. Caravans can be flimsy and you don't want to be stressing about things breaking. I am really cack handed and regularly go oops hubby can you fix this when I accidently break something. We have different glue screwdrivers etc in our caravan at the ready. Add my destructo boy into the mix and there's always repairs for hubby to do when away

We've gone cheaper this time, was forever worried with previous vans about breaking something. But last year we stayed in a friend's van which was quite old and definitely not perfect, and we were more relaxed.
We have a teenager, planning on taking grandson who is 2, and an Akita who is big and clumsy, and decided the holiday is about how we enjoy ourselves not about what the van looks like.
So use it, love it but don't get too worried about the dings and breakages, life's too short.
I also agree with the advice to find a suitable, older model.
If things do get damaged or broken, you won't stress about it too much as you won't have spent thousands of pounds on a new van.
My little caravan is over 40 years old and is still doing the job it was intended for and it only cost me £450.
Our 2009 lunar always felt flimsy to me, I was petrified of damage especially when kids were really young when we first bought it but it survived intact. Our new Elddis seems a bit more robust but my kids are now highly trained in caravan appreciation but I know it isn't as simple as that with a child with autism. Like others say maybe start cheaper but get a mobile caravan engineer to check for damp issues before you buy as it can be a bit of a minefield.
