I am thinking of getting the caravan serviced, but wonder when is the time to do it, is it now and then we are prepared, or wait until the week before and risk the service man being too busy or make an appointment for the beginning of the spring....Its our first service so this is why I am unsure of the time to do it...
We get ours done round anniversary of purchase but that is to do with warranty stipulations. But we get it in Feb half term then there is touch wood enough time for any fixes before first trip at Easter.
do it now and you might get a slightly cheaper price.
else book it in for when its convenient
we are tied to the anniversary of when ours was registered which is smack in the middle of peak season. i wish we could do it off peak as it would save me time and money
I would like it done for the spring to be honest, so that I know Ive had it done and we can get off when we like, it hasnt been done since I got it and this feb is its 2nd birthday with us, it is a 2001. I will get on tomorrow and make arrangements
Thanks
christina
Book it now for when you want it. We have a 2013 van, courtesy of CC insurance after our previous van was stolen, booked now for early February, its first birthday, with a Swift approved mobile engineer based in Middlesex, hopefully better than our useless misery guts local dealer.
Ive got a number from a neighbouring caravan owner, they gave it to me and he comes highly recommended. Going to give him a bell later today. I think he charges £170 + parts
I left mine to two weeks before I went away last year, a couple of things came up and it was a mad dash to get parts organised and fitted before I left.
I have rang 1 caravan service chap and they have 2 dates at the end of march, I am waiting for another to get back to me and then I will go with the cheapest, the 1st one was £165 plus free wheel nut and then its parts on top (or course)
Being new to this, what facilities does a service engineer need? EG can the service be done at the storage facility? Or does it need to be done where there is light/electric etc?
I have booked mine now, he comes to the storage to do mine, I think that is what generally happens. Its easier that way for me anyway. Its a mobile caravan service engineer I am using. He will have all the stuff on board to check the caravan over.
