Hi, we looking at revamping before the summer. Wheres the best place to look for new curtains and to have the seats recovered. Cant afford to pay the earth for them though, have found websites that you drop the van to them and they do the work but should imagine that's going to be costly. Has anyone done this and how do you go about recovering the pelmet bit that hides the curtain track? I cant stand the faded pink velvet that covers everything at the moment and want it gone!

do a good job. Give them some measurements and ask for a quote. You can stay on their little site while they do the job in a day.

Hi
If you can sew it's quite easy to do yourself. The pelmets are normally fastened on with a bracket which is screwed at the back. Try somewhere like Dunelm for some bargain curtains, and buy enough to replace yours, and if you want, enough to use to recover the seats.
Ebay has some good fabrics, but you can't beat a market for choice and price.
See if you can find someone local who alters clothes, and ask them for a quote - normally cheaper than an upholstery specialist.
You can completely change the look of your holiday home by changing the colours.
Enjoy

I cant sew not anywhere near good enough to do this anyway :( they would prob fall apart and curtains would be uneven and not fit lol. Dunelm is a good idea to look for fabric though. Thanks

We had seat covers made because of the dog as throws end up coming away. Someone came to our house with a large selection of fabrics and came back a week or two later and fitted them. £368 for our 6 berth. He was from the manchester area and really good quality.
If you live in the north I could give you his number.
We could not really afford the full service so we went to plan b. Bought the material which we liked, took down our old velvet pink curtains an a local sewing shop used them as templates to make new fully lined curtains. We got throws from pound stretcher which were £10 each, the material was £25 an the making up cost us £40, so for a 5 berth van we did it for under £100, the pelmets we covered ourselves which was really easy to do even for us who are not good at sewing or DIY!!!
Try Plumbs for a nationwide covering service, they will recover all kinds of things from a full sofa to a straight bench seat base. First quality workmanship for a fair price, and they do matching curtains too.
You could also try your local reupholstry service, they often will do re-covers as well as full refubishment of articals of furniture.
