I bought this Elecsol 110a battery in feb last year when we bought our first caravan as we had a motor mover fitted was told this is the best one to use.
over the last few weeks I have been resealing all the rails and fixings on the out side of our van this weekend I removed the battery to remove the battery box and replace the box as it had started to split on removing the battery I noticed it was leaking around the handle I took it back to the caravan place to get a replacement was told today that Elecsol have stopped trading.
I need a replacement that is good with a motor mover can anybody recommend an alternative thank you .

I would buy a Banner Energy Bull as I know and trust the product. Suppliers include Road-pro and Tayna, plus better caravan and motorhome dealers.

The retailer is responsible for the item. Its not your problem the manufacturer or supplier have gone out of business.

Leaking around the handle is odd though. The fluid level should not be that high.

The guarantee is 5 years. as said go back to your dealer, they have sort it out regardless. It is a shame they are no longer. I had one for 5 years and flattened it totally by mistake on at least 4 or five occasions and it always came back after a good charge. This could have killed a traditional leisure battery. I also have used it as starter battery without issue.

I agree the battery fluid should not be that high. could it not be from the breather pipe nipple at the top of the battery and in which case you should have this ducted outside via a breather pipe.

Under Sale of Goods Act that is the problem of the supplier unless you bought direct from Elecsol. Personally I am not surprised that they have stopped trading as customer service was very poor and rude.
Tanya are selling the battery at present.

Under the SOGA is the supplier actually responsible for covering the obligations of for example Elecsols abnormally extended 5 year warranty? I thought a manufacturers warranty was separate from a dealers SOGA obligations, but willing to learn.

The reseller company is Tayna not Tanya by the way.

Tip:

Check the charging system on the caravan / car very, very carefully, and also that you have never allowed it to become discharged / overcharged (not even once!) as battery manufacturers / suppliers WILL use it as an opportunity to try to void the warranty.

I've dealt with enough battery manufacturers / suppliers over the years to know this!

It is the supplier who is responsible for 6 years under SOGA.

Bought mine last April and the guarantee was definitely only stated as two years

With respect, that bit is generally known, but is not answering the question and the 6 years is only applicable with anything reasonably expected to be that durable.

Under the SOGA is the retailer obligated to honour a brander/manufacturers warranty?
As I said I thought the branders/manufacturers "warranty" was a standalone contract between the maker and you so the retailer is not in the loop.

Given the demise of Elecsol you had no choice but seek justified redress from the supplier, glad that happened, and as it should without a battle.
I think the battery you have is simply a brand owned by a distributor who has them manufactured somewhere throughout the world, as opposed to a manufacturers brand.
It is not the choice I would make, I would buy a manufacturers brand, such as Banner, Varta or Exide, in that order.
However the choice of battery and the price you are willing to pay depends on what it is needed to do. We are mainly off EHU campers so place, and demand a significant duty on our batteries and sensibly have to pay the price for that.
If on EHU there is little argument to buy premium brand leisure batteries, you don’t need the performance or test the longevity to frequent cycling use.
