We thought about a fixed bed but they are far too cramped for us. Very few fixed beds are long enough for my OH and we really feel the loss of lounge space
We had a side dinette 4 berth but have changed to an end washroom two berth. We make up the bed occasionally but the front seats are long enough to use as singles. We prefer this as we have more living space and room for the dogs. Another big advantage is the lovely rear washroom.
Two berths tend to be lighter and cheaper. It might be worth taking a look at a few
We have had 7 fixed bed vans over the years but last year decided that as there were only two of us what was the point of lugging around two beds we only use at night?
Bought a two berth and there is loads more room in the living area which is where we spend most of the time. Bigger bathroom too.

Well we have gone the other way , 2 berth is up for sale and island fixed bed on order from Coachman ,
Had enough of bed making every night , far more flexibility with having a fixed bed .
An island fixed bed is the only one I'd consider. We tried one of the side beds out and hated it. So cramped. Love our two berth and it's short enoght to keep at home too
It's a good job they make a range of layouts isn't it?

We also tend to use the front seating as two singles. We use sleeping bags and memory foam mattress toppers. Best sleep ever and as johnks says 5 minutes to set up and put away.
Also as JayEss said short enough to keep at home.

Takes 5 minutes with two Duvaleys.
Takes 2 seconds to climb in at the side of my beloved !

Indeed but its internal length is 19' and 24'6" external length. Miro of 1470kg and Mtplm of 1625kg which will take a big car of 4x4 to pull it.
I think thats the problem with fixed beds, in that you need a big van to get some space to compensate for the fixed bed.IMO.
I am not criticising your choice just sort of trying to prove a point.

I agree vangoman02 , that is the price you pay . Think everyone would agree that the beauty of caravanning is that there is usually something out there to suit most , compromise though is inevitable .
Well when we eventually get something I will let you all know how we get on . I'm grateful for everyone's contributions and feel I have a much better idea of the pro's and cons of the different layouts . I didn't want to get something and think Oh s**t I didn't realise that . Now I can make an informed mistake
