Wow what a baptism of fire that overnighter was or should I just say baptism .... 1st trip in our new van and we had hail, thunder, lighting and high winds, but dispite all that, we managed to make sure everything was working and had a great time, and as my misses keeps telling me we couldn't do this in the folding camper. Any of you out there recall their first time vanning it and any funny stories to tell?

Yes trip to peak district callow top to be exact.
Little old sprite alpine, lost skylight on A38 did not know. Put awning up .....no hard standing pegs.
Awning held down in each corner with water barrels. Wind got up awning flapping around all night no sleep. Started to rain that's when we found out sky light had gone. Taped black bag to hole in roof ran out of tape. Rained so hard bag began to sag!!! bucket under black bag with a hole in it to release water!! We survived 2 nights of awful weather with a hole in the roof.....that was 10 years ago we still laugh about it now However the little alpine has well gone !

Borrowing water carrier off neighbour as couldn't fill toilet using aqua roll, borrowing spanner off wardens after getting a fellow caravanner to confirm that no the gas shouldn't smell and hiss , and using the gas water heater as there was a fault with the elec one and kept tripping our ehu. So yes quite memorable. Our second outing was a palava at times too - our new to us tow car's roof leaked in the storm (thankfully not done it since) plus we had no elec in a power cut. After help from some lovely fellow ralliers a fuse was changed and the battery to charged. So much to learn, tents were certainly more straightforward. Yet to have our third outing, hopefully March.....
