We have had 2 years using our first van, which was tiny and almost 20 years old. We have loved it, but needed more space. So have traded it in ( getting only £200 less than we paid) for a Swift Corniche 17/3 2001.
I can not wait for the first trip at easter. So many little things we have not had before, like blinds and fly screens, room to turn round in the bathroom!
I am a little concerned about the towing size and weight, but so happy.
Thanks for the reply. The Husband tows, and has had a licence since the 80,s so I think that is ok. The car is a passat diesel , we were told it could tow it with no problems. I hope that is correct
Do check the weight link. Never listen to a dealer about towing limits. You need to be sure for yourself. Don't forget to look for enough noseweight capacity for the caravan, as well as the towing weights.
Start with kerbweight of the Passat, then find the MTPLM of the caravan (on the plate by the caravan door). MTPLM should be 85% or less of kerbweight. This is not enshrined in law but (in my opinion) is a useful guideline. Over 90% you will struggle on hills.
On a separate note - have you considered sharing the towing? Mr Chile and I share, one drives while t'other sleeps, you can get further quicker.
