hi all. anyone going to secc to the scottish caravan show be prepared as the parking has changed. the carpark on the west side beside the heliport ,half is got building works for the commonwealth games so only vehicles above 1.9 metres allowed to park, all cars below this height to use the new multi story car park beside the new hydro venue, only 1200 spaces available.there was no signs directing you there but stewards in old car park after you queue to get in. took us 1 hour to get out to travel a few hundred back to multi story car park as traffic lights don't expect a load of cars from that direction ,all out of sync. so easy directions is to follow signs for the new hydro as car park is beside it. spoke to information in secc who said the original car park is going to be a retail park after the games and only parking will be in this 1200 space multi story car park. its plain to see that glasgow city council don't want people to drive to the biggest venue in scotland for shows and music concerts
Its a pure rip off as far as im concerned. Why should i pay to go and see some one selling a caravan ??
If i was selling mine can you just imagine it "Oh by the way mate i charge £20 to come and see it and if you bring the mrs that will be £40.Burgers and a hot dogs if yer hungry will be £3 each juice which you can buy out of Asdas will be extra.
Parking will be extra to and if your disabled i charge for that also."
The sellers should pay for the entry etc after all their the ones selling their products.
Sorry, the last time i went i spent a fortune never again RANT OVER...
We used to go to that show just to look at the accessories, but have found that the tiny Caravan Shop in Gt Western Road had a bigger selection of accessories than the SSCC.

Aw man - I'm going there tomorrow in our MH - will we get to park in the original carpark ??
they are using half the west car park for the media village for the games the other half is for vehicles over 1.9 metres so vans and motor homes will be ok.
We went yesterday arriving at about 11am and the old car park as Steve said was just about full we ended up at the very last row. Still had to pay £7 for the privilege. The show it's self was much the same lots of statics and retirement homes, seemed to be more camper vans this year and down on the caravans but still lots to see and do again the accessory stand was hit and we did get some nice bargains not sure if I really needed it all but it all nice to have stuff. As it's the only show in Scotland we go but are seriously thinking of going to the Manchester show next year.
Oh well better get up early tomorrow then and get there early! Normally get there before it opens so always in the first few rows of parking.
NB This technically isn't the only Scottish show as for the past two or three years there has been a show held in Aberdeenshire in May/June. Never been but it is always covered in Scottish Caravanner Magazine.

if you head for the hydro, signposted from the expressway go left at lights then right at next lights into multi story car park beside hydro, its a doddle just no signs to tell you this
I agree with the original poster, the signs didn't say over 1.9m only so I too went to the old car park and had to queue to be told to go back the way I had came, then wait about 30 minutes for the lights to change. The last time I went I used the train but it took over an hour for what is usually a 10 min car journey. I was interested in sering the Kampa inflatable awnings but the 2 guys had a constant posse of people waiting so in the end I never got a chance to see them being erected. Lobey, you're right, the guy in GW road has everything you need without the car park hassle and queuing.
