My uncle spent years holidaying with us and sleeping in the awning next to the caravan without and inner tent and he never complained about a thing. I wish he was still around to come with us.... miss him.
------------- 2014
Easter Hols - Burnham-on-sea (7 nts)
Early May bank hol - Hopley's Bewdley (3nts).
Whitsun - Goodrington (14 nts).
August - Goodrington (16 nts).
We have a 2 berth caravan and 88 year old Mum comes on holiday with us.
She gets the huge bed in caravan and me , hubby and large Labrador sleep in the bedroom annex of the awning.
We have got through 2 airbeds in one year ,, first was an intex queen size raised that survived for one night,(well half a night !) next was a Coleman raised standard size that survived the whole season.
Have just invested in a king sized platinum aero-bed with built in pump.(half price at the moment)
This will fill the whole bedroom annex and I am hoping I won't wake up lodged between the bed and the side of the inner tent with just my fleece dressing gown over me , while git dog is snoring happily on my side of the bed anymore
I've slept in my friends' awning in both a pop-up and a inner - both were fine but wouldn't sleep without one or the other - if you'd seen the amount of Daddy-Long-Legs covering the inside of the awning on the last time I did this - NO WAY!

Hi Mikim, I've used an Intex queen raised double for 5 seasons now. The first lasted 4 seasons and when I bought a new one for last season it deflated in about 2 hours. I rubbed the seal with a clean lint free cloth, blew it up again and with only 3 x 10 second bursts throught the season that was it until we deflated it in the middle of October. If you still have it why not give the seal a bit of a rub and see what happens.
We are off to look at some awnings tomorrow.
Im liking the idea of an inner tent and a radiator left on all night for the nights when we do this.
Im hoping some awnings may be better sealed against creapy crawlies and i can put some ant powder under the floor before its pitched, maybe that will help too!
I have only slept in ours once. We had the oldies visiting and they got to sleep inside the caravan.
Me and husband did the honourable thing and took our inflatable air mattress outside.
Unfortunately we/he didn't put the 'skirt' on, which goes around bottom edge of the caravan - so it was quite open. I was woken at an ungodly hour by a bird flapping around trying t get out :)
Other than that it was okay - it's as close as I will ever get to camping in a tent though.
