I think it comes down to how you feel both personally and financially about giving a full or partial refund.
They could pursue this through the small claims court. Whether or not they do likely comes down to their personal circumstances.
If it was me (and I could afford to) I'd offer 10% back and make it clear and in writing this is a good will gesture and under no circumstances does it suggest negligence on your behalf.

Yes but they've had a bump or knock to his van caused damage and then found the damp which didn't come up on his damp test meter (if they did check for damp) so seller could reasonably state that it didn't come up on his either.
If I smashed my new elddis into a wall and then discovered an undiscovered damp patch as a result do you reckon Elddis would give me my money back on the van?! Or being less extreme any dealer on a used van.
I think the accidental damage changes things a bit

Being of suspicious mind, what if they damaged the van, and have therefore purposefully wet the interior in a bid to pressure you into a return?
If you are considering taking the van back, then I suggest you state you want it in the condition it left your property ie you want the accidental damage they caused to be rectified.
As people keep saying, if your van did not match the description, then.....
However, it no longer matches the way you sold it to them. I don't know any company/sales centres on gods green earth that would give a refund for an item not returned in the same condition it was sold.

The op does not make it very clear if he means damage caused by removing interior panel to assess damp or accident damage caused to exterior of caravan. It is also not clear if the caravan was sold for £2.5k or the damage &/or damp will cost £2.5k to fix.
My earlier advice was on the assumption that the damage was caused by removal of interior panel to find extent of damp & the op sold the caravan for £2.5k. If the new owner has in fact caused £2.5k's worth of accident damage to caravan then the advice would be regardless of claimed damp issues to repay nothing & let the buyer make the next move, if any.

I think paulyk74 and I are basically on the same wavelength. My inclination here would be to offer a full refund, if they return the van to you in exactly the same condition as it was when they bought it. That is, no visible damp and no signs of damage. Otherwise, no deal. My guess is that they will decide to keep the van and put it down to experience.
