Torque wrenches do have to be treated with care, they are a precision tool. They should be wound off after use & never used for undoing nuts. They should also be recalibrated occasionally. For these reasons I have never bothered with one for car or caravan wheelnuts. I keep a breaker bar & impact sockets for changing wheels & checking nuts as necessary.

Oh, torque wrench. I was wondering why you would need a wrench for a torch...

haha...I know I the spelling was wrong as soon as I up loaded the message but at least some folk knew what I was referring to and not actually wanting something that could guide me in darkness
Surely if you keep torquing the nuts every time you go out, eventually the receiver will "stretch" compounding the issue of the nut coming loose? Never realised that there were so many qualified mechanical engineers on this forum.
I had a problem on our folding camper where I was taking the steel wheels to refurb them and couldn't undo the bolts. I even cracked one of my steel sockets when I added a steel pipe to give me leverage. In the end I bought a 12v impact wrench from Machine Mart which worked a treat.
Torque wrenches aren't a lot of money so you may as well have one for piece of mind. If you buy one with a large enough range then it should also come in handy for tightening motor mover bolts too.

Not if you release pressure as soon as wrench clicks. Trust me, I'm a technician. Engineers have degrees, they don't fix cars.
