Hi all

We are new members to this site and we're wondering if you good people could pass on any hints and tips or things to watch out for as we move onto our first ever seasonal pitch.

Many thanks

Kate and Dan

Not in a dip where puddles collect. Right next to a tap where people like me fill their water barrels at 2am

Electric hookup lead long enough and not having to go over a pathway or worse.

Slope of the pitch is right for your awning. I find mine fits best if i raise that side of the van a couple of inches.

When you have found the perfect pitch for you the most important thing is the terms and conditions.
the thing to look for is a pitch with the minimum amount of restrictions.
An up front one of payment that allows you to use the pitch anytime during the season by you or anyone you give permission to ie family or friends for no additional charge.
Also a pitch that allows you to take your van off site to tour for a change, and return afterwards.
i could go on but what i am saying is once your pitch has been paid for its yours to use as you like.
Have a look at the other seasonals on the site if it looks like steptoes yard move on to another
Choose a pitch on the highest level if there is any risk of flood.
Take your time deciding, you will find some sites that charge silly prices then charge you for sneezing.

Have you actually found a site or are looking for one? If you are looking, which area do you want to go? If it's mid Wales I can highly recommend the site we have our seasonal pitch. Erwbarfe farm in Ceredigion. 12 month pitch, open March to October, 20 mins from Aberystwyth, lots to do in the area. No petty rules or restrictions, site owners lovely and very helpful. Have a look at their website....oh and only £941 a year INCLUDING electric!

Hi all, thank you for your replies. We do have a pitch and have just returned from putting it on. It opens on 14th march and they have let us put it on now so that was nice. We have a fully serviced, level hard standing pitch and it's open until the end of October. We are on an 'avenue' with only 10 seasonal pitches on it (all the star pitches are on avenues, of which there are about 12) and we are the 3rd on down so not too many cars to go buy us, also, no footpaths nearby or playgrounds, and we all have our own water supply - but good point Grampian91!
It is quite pricey but it is the east coast and this was not the most expensive one we have looked at. You do have to pay per swim at the pool - maybe would have expected a pass of some sort considering the ground rent! There is a clubhouse, shop, fish and chip shop, squash court and ten pin bowling on site - not everyones idea of fun but I like the diversity of people, old, young, families, couples etc...

We are on our 3rd year of seasonal pitching, second at this site. We found that our previous site was just too far to enjoy nipping up to every Friday evening and OH wasn't enjoying it any more.

We have chosen a site much closer to home, can even stay over Sundays, so it's much less of a chore getting here.

previous site was cheaper, but we had a massive electricity bill to pay when we left, here it's included so no surpises!

good luck
