We are just about to purchase a new van, probably a Lunar Ultima (Lexon) 560 due to a damp problem with our existing one and need a new awning due to difference in size. We plan on touring for the summer and possibly winter period so are going to have to erect and pull down the awning many times so are looking for something straight forward. As we are probably going to live in the van over the winter also we need something that will stand up to the elements. Would prefer a full awning, at the moment we have an Isabella full length one and have found it stands up to the weather well but is a bit of a pain to erect.
Can anyone suggest something simpler to use that is as good quality. Not to bothered about price as we are going to get plenty of use out of it.
If I read you correctly, you want
a) A quick and easy awning for touring and
b) A (full sized) heavy duty seasonal awning which will stand up to the winter weather.
Two very different things, and I doubt if any one awning will satisfy both needs.
If your Isabella will fit the new van, keep it (if it doesn't fit, it might be worth getting a price to get it altered) and buy a lightweight porch awning for touring.
Look at the Kampa Rally range and and compare with the competition.
You're going to need storage space for the one which is not in use.

Hi Sam. What i want is an easy erect heavy duty awning as you say unlikely they exist but was hoping lol.
What we would have to settle for is one that would that would stand a spring summer autumn awning that is fairly straight forward to put up to erect. Have never used the quick erect ones so was looking for peoples views on sturdiness, stability etc. Will have a look at the Kampa range.
We have a heavy duty porch awning we could use over winter if we go down that route as it would just be for storage, wet shoes etc. The current one is around 25 years old tho it is still in pretty good condition would not be worth the expense of extending.
if cost is not as issue look at UNICO awnings from Bax Netherlands.http://www.unicovoortenten.nl/
We have a 2007 Bologna awning now resized in UK after changing van and still used for annual long trips to France. It is very easy to errect and so strong withstanding all weather (no storm straps required) We could not find any comparable awning in the UK so bought a Deeltent 350 porch awning 2 years ago to use for long weekends.
No UK dealers but you can email and arrange to buy direct.
I love my Eurovent Montreux. We had ours up from buying in May until October and it hadn't budged. The write up for it states it is a 4 season awning designed to take the alpine elements. Not 'easy' to put up but not difficult either, nor was it terribly expensive for the quality. Also, as it is made of the same material as the wheel arch covers (polypropylene I think) it is really windproof with an inner and outer skirt which helps to keep bugs out & inner roof lining makes it feel really cosy. Good luck on your search.
