Went to pick up our first ever caravan yesterday and decided that as it was sunny we should get out immediately. After a few mistakes (mainly involving trying to move the caravan with the handbrake on, or forgetting to put the handbrake on) we finally got it up to the CC site at Grassington.
We had a great time working out what all the switches do and worrying way too much about everything. We also had a minor issue with the gas (audible leak between bottle and regulator), which is now fixed after dropping back into the dealer we bought from on the way home.
So not only is this me sharing our first outing with you but saying a big thank you to everyone who helped us by either offering to let us prepare some food for our two year old, borrow a kettle, borrow a gas bottle, borrow tools and eventually borrow a gas pipe (which was the offending part).
Like anything, caravanning is a learning curve and we all had to start somewhere!
Glad you had a good trip and things do get quicker and easier with practice.
Happy caravanning xx

As hejc72 says, it certainly is a learning curve, it will take you a few outings to get everything just right, but its fun learning, for me caravaning is a holiday, hobby, weekends away etc etc. Enjoy, enjoy and then enjoy some more. Exciting isnt it
Bought from Dickinsons in Bradford, got a Bailey Ranger 4 berth. Not the layout we originally thought we wanted but I'm glad we changed our minds.
Ignoring my mistakes with the handbrake and the faulty gas hose it appears our first trip away was a success. Towing wasn't too bad either, as long as I was going forwards. Watched in awe as someone reversed their caravan into position in one fluid movement, had a go myself, gave up and used the mover.
