Hi all. Just purchased a new to us van today. Obviously needing a few things. First of all it has a normal trailer hitch not an allko stabaliser or similar which id prefer just wondered where was best place to get one and are they easy enough to swap over cheers
Any caravan dealer with a shop will stock them, think they're about the 300-350 mark.
As for the fitting of them, I'd use a qualified engineer for a job like that, it's an integral part of the van so no chances can be taken.
Plus I wouldn't know where to start anyway

If you can use spanners its a dead easy job to swap hitches. Only 2 bolts & its pretty obvious how its done. Just remember rear bolt holds front of hitch damper. Its a 10min job with 2 19mm ring spanners although you may need a socket & breaker bar to loosen & I think spline socket for new bolts. youtube vid
Personally I wouldn't bother with a stabiliser. If caravan is loaded properly you don't need one & a stabiliser won't make a badly loaded caravan safe.
I'm with Michell8 on the subject of their need. I understand your opinion on 'piece if mind', but they are no fix for a potentially unstable loaded van, which is far more important.
My van came with one fitted and I do use it, but I periodically travel some distance with it in it's 'open' position to feel for any stability issues before locking it down; they can give folk too much (false) confidence in my opinion.
If you're set on getting one, then Waudby's offer the MkII at a reasonable kit price here for example.
