Yep! have front box, under seat storage, floor space too, it's only the big steep hills we struggle on, otherwise Honda goes well, not sure about the weight of the car, but I think we'll skip going on the weigh bridge.

I would say find the ideal van first. Plenty of cars out there suitable for most types of van but you don;t want to find your ideal van and find your new car is borderline for towing it.
Unless of course you massively over spec the car for a large 4x4 which in case obviously that wouldn't apply!

Good advice sunshine. And I guess that's what we've done. We've found a couple of vans we like the look of, got a rough idea of the weight, and then we've upgraded the car so next time we change van, we can get the van we want, rather than be limited by what the car can tow. So we decided to put a car on the shopping list, as we could only afford either a new car, or a new van, (new to us, not new new). That's what I meant by putting a car on the shopping list before the van. No point in buying a van that a car can't pull safely.
