I was looking at Caravan Guard for insurance. They are asking where van will be kept when not in use. What exactly does that mean? This year (but it may change next year) van will be sited on a caravan site for 8 months. Obviously not being used all the time. After that it will be up my drive beside house. In-between times we may take it off site to meet with friends elsewhere. I can chose only one option online. Beside house OR elsewhere. What do others in similar situation do?
They are saying that if you do not park the van at the address you give them, when the van is not being used then they will not cover it.
To be honest I always used the C&CC for insurance cover on both the caravan & the Motorhome.I found them to be exceptional on cover & claims,& very competitive on price with very few restrictions on security devices , or where the unit is kept or parked
they want to know if it is in gold star storage or otherwise. The more you pay, the better the storage, the bigger the discount. My van is in proper storage but not the gold star type. so I am not penalised but I don't get any discount.
We are insured with C&CC & store our van on a seasonal pitch from Mid March until the end of October. It is then moved onto our drive for the winter months & just give them a call to inform them of the move. Never had a problem with this!
I am finding it difficult to get insurance because of the age of my caravan. It's a 1988 Elddis Tornado XL, and I keep it outside my house when not in use. Many insurers will not cover a van that old.
