Yep same here - we did have a minor leak under our bathroom sink which caused ours to cycle on and off but habit now is to turn off when not required either out of van or at night

Hi Kevin, I have a coachman and suffered a similar problem short time ago, the problem in my case was the non return valve. The fits with push fitting into the rigid water pipes just before the drain cock under the front locker. I sourced a replacement on this tinternet for under a tenner, problem solved. Hopes this helps

The water system has to be be 100% sealed to create a pressurised system and just the slightest air leak will cause the pressure to drop. Once the pressure drops to a certain degree then the water pump activates to re-pressurise the system again. I had this problem a couple of years ago and it turned out to be the sealing 'O' ring that had worn at the housing where the pump connects to. I initially wound some PTFE tape round the sealing ring and the pump didn't keep activating afterwards so I renewed the sealing 'O' ring which solved the problem so it may be worth just trying that first. The pump connector and sealing ring will be a different fitting to mine though as my Coachman is a 1999 model but the principal in sealing the water system is identical.

Don't know if your system is the same as our Swift challenger 1994. but its a 12v powered pressure system with an udjustable pressure sensor (dirfectly on the rear of the water inlet) I think its a whale system.

If your battery voltage is low (from a poor leisure battery) (perhaps you are turning off the mains battery charger at night allowing the battery to run down below a certain voltage) then this can cause the pump to run.

Also replace all of the rubber seals in the water inlet. (this did the trick for us) Its a really easy job if you are "good with your hands" the "non return valve" is a very simple bit of rubber that resembles a large drawing pin (circular T shape?) it has a ridge a third of the way down on the leg of the T that pulls through the hole iuntil it "clicks" in to place (I used some narrow nosed pliars to achive this Very Gently!!) I bought a cheap replacement seals kit off t'interweb about 5-6 £.There is also a large rubber washer type of seal about the size of 2p piece.

A couple of screws hold the unit in and together. There is a spring as well. So basically replace all of the rubber parts.

I think I bought the wrong kit first time round so check first.

I had the same problem last year in my sterling europa the pump kept coming on and I found I had a leak on the fitting on the water heater I tried to fix it on the site but fitting snapped off so it got sorted when we got home I had to bypass the water heater so we only had cold water i ended up changing both fittings on the water heater I tried it at home and everything was ok but I'll know more when we go away at easter

Well !

Had a good look around the water inlet and heater area today phew!! everything looks brand new. coulod not feel any loose pipes, did not start pulling apart to check o ring, afraid i might not be able to get the rings in time away in van sunday. Also cannot for the life of me see the non return valve. anyone pinpoint it.

Do you have a Whale Smartflo pump? I had one in my last van an it kept cycling on all the time for about 5 seconds. It drove me mad looking for leaks. For weeks I was in cupboards, under the van, checking for back flow from the hot water going back out of the van through the aquaroll pipe, all to no avail. I spoke to the guys on the Whale stand at the NEC who thought there may be grit in the pump or a lime scale build up. They gave me a service kit for the pump which I fitted an the problem was gone.

fill system as normal, screw down wheel clockwise to the bottom until locked. open a nearby cold tap, should be no water, very gently unscrew the nut anti clockwise until the switch just starts clicking and you have a good flow of water. stop. close tap and test again.

This happened on my 2007amara,if yours is the truma pistol type connector like mine, it could be the none return valve, I looked everywhere on mine and that was the problem, the none return valve is built into the housing you put the pistol in. You can find out by putting your water on as usual, so everything fills, go outside and pull out the pump from the side of the van, if water drips out then the housing will need replacing, 10 minute job. Don't mess with the surge damper until you have had a look at the above.

By the way the surge damper and pressure switch are the same unit, should not need messing with as they self adjust to voltage input

There are a few tips that has been mentioned here.
Any heres mine, I had this prob with my van last season. No leaks anywhere drove me insane, New O rings etc, My van dosent have the pressure switch, I looked at the one way valve that fits behind the water inlet inside the van,mine is a Blue fitting, which i found out this is a one way, The normal stright flow fitting are either black or grey.I changed this, and bingo sorted.Water was slowly running back into the aquaroll.But after buying a new fitting, i give the old fitting a looking at, it had small bits of grit in the seals, cleaned it and its fine now.
