Hi everyone hope your all well. We need new tyres for our caravan, it is in storage at the moment, but i need to know can you leave the caravan on its legs while we take the wheels off and take them to a garage for them to put new tyres on, hopefully would only be overnight.
I had my tyres fitted at the yard by etyres to avoid this problem, it was also quite a bit cheaper. It was a local fitter that fitted them for etyres and he told me it was cheaper through etyres than going direct to him.

The legs are not strong enough to support the full weight of the caravan.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
As John says the legs are steadies not stands. You could leave the caravan on axle stands but the ground would have to be firm enough to take the weight without the stands falling over.
hi if you are removing wheels from caravan put a pair off axle stands under the main beam behind each wheel then use legs to steady caravan then remove wheels.
I might ring the local tyre fitter then, and he might go and fit them for us, The caravan is only 4 or 5 miles out of town. I will ring them tomorrow, thanks for your help.
For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Another vote for e tyers, ring them and they will come to your storage site and fit at a time you arrange and at no extra cost.
Have a look at this e tyers
I used to do that but have given over. I found event tyres who come out, do all the donkey work, supply whatever tyres I want at the cheapest price I can find and include balancing in the price. They turn up on time as well. I can not see the point of doing anything else these days.

I think you do have to be aware of why some places are 'cheap' though. Not that i can comment on the above mentioned tyre suppliers here, as i havent used them. But there are tyres out there i wouldnt put on a wheelbarrow. Cheap, yes - but rubbish!
Etyres don't cover my postcode area sadly which is a pity as they do provide a good service. Biggest hassle I was finding was getting a tyre dealer that was happy to change my tyres as they have Tyron bands. I kid you not I tried 6 different places before I got a company who also have a mobile fitting service who were willing to help me.
