We are new to caravanning and purchased a 2001 bailey ranger 500/5 which is lovely. We have been testing things out this morning off the mains electric but with the exception of two of the lights in the lounge the others don't work. We have checked fuses etc. hopefully we are missing something simple and somebody can suggest what else we may need to do.
Also we have filled the water heater disconnected the water pump like the manual says, switched the pump button off and the water supply doesn't work properly, and we can't find an internal pump system or should we be leaving the other switch on constant?
I look forward to some help, many thanks in anticipation.
There should be a switch that says CAR/VAN set this to VAN the lights could be 12v.
Have you not got an aqua roll filled with water ? you should fill this and place the pump in it (BLUE) and attach to the van.Why do you want to fill the internal barrel ?
The switch in the van as above should be set to Van not Car.

The Ranger 500/5 doesn't have an internal tank other than the hot water heater. I don't understand why the manual mentions to disconnect the pump as the system won't operate at all without it connected and submerged in a barrel/Aquaroll of water.
The system needs a flow of water to operate and draws fresh water as you run a tap, so the hot tank gets replenished during use. You need the pump connected and switched on.
As for the lighting, Jeff has suggested you may have some 12v lights that require the 12v master switch on, but if you've had the pump running, then you would have had this switch set right. I can't remember fully with the 2001 model, but there could be a seperate lighting master switch on the panel too.
When you say you've ran "off the mains electric", do you mean you have had the mains connected or not (off)? Are the additional lights are 240v?
Do you know whether the lamps are working or not? You could simply have a few blown bulbs.
Had a 99 ranger 510/4. I think there should be a switch to turn the pump on and off. I think it's down on the front bed locker. You need to bleed all the air from the system. Close all the internal taps and make sure the water heater drain is closed with no water pouring out the bottom onto the ground. Put the pump in a full aquaroll and plug it into the side of the van. Switch on the pump switch and open the kitchen hot tap. You should hear the pump runnng but no water coming out the taps. There should be a gurgling and spitting as the air comes out of the kitchen tap. When water flows freely the heater is full of water not air. Then swith on the water heater.
The two lights working in the lounge are most likely 240v lights, perhaps on a pull cord switch from memory so you have not got 12 volts. If that's the case your pump won't work either. Check both circuit breakers are switched on at the panel in the front seat box. You lift to switch on. There is, I think, a switch next to the pump switch which turns on all 12volt systems. Switch this on.
