Hi I am wanting to clean to carpets in my van as they are a bit grubby since we went away in the mud bath we had in February. Does anyone know if the carpet has vinyl underneath in my challenger 530 2003? if so would it be ok to vax the carpet. My old van only had the floor under the carpet but some people i have spoken to say mine has vinyl under the carpet but the carpets are fixed not removable so i am not sure? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance

Not sure Shane. My 2005 Challenger has vinyl but the carpets are removable. I have, however, cleaned mine with a vax every season and they come up quite well. Is there any way you could lift a corner somewhere and check?

We do ours with the carpet washer I bring them home then hang them outside till they dry
Put them back in and then wait for someone to kick the dog's water over usually around one hour..

I would love to do this but mine are unfortunately fixed carpets and go under the furniture .

Also cheers Ronni i have had a quick look the other day and it looks pretty stuck in all the corners. If no one gets back with a definitive answer pretty soon it looks like i am going to have to find a piece i can maybe lift without compromising the look of the carpet .

Shane, if you can't lift it (maybe under one of the seats?) can you not shampoo it in situ? You would need a nice sunny day (!) when you can leave all the windows open and/or maybe some heating on but the Vax does not over wet it (I use a Vax 3 in 1). I suppose a lot depends on where your van is kept.

Have you got vinyl in the floor lockers? Mine did and it extended under the carpet.

I used to wet vac mien after every trip due to the kids making it so dirty. Always dried out fine.

Just been up to where my van is stored and looked under the seats there is like a stone chip plastic stuff on the floor and then the carpet and what i presume to be manufacturer plastic. So i take it the plastic stuff is the vinyl. It looks like it goes under the carpets throughout the van. So im gonna take the plunge and vax it next weekend thanks for the help guys and gals..
