Hi, we have a bailey retreat caravan just 12 months old which has three large holes in the floor underneath the van, only through the outside skin and squashing the insulation board. They were spotted by a bailey approved service company when servicing the van, who told us that they were done in the factory, as he had seen several vans with the same problem, and that bailey usually fixed them ( or rather hide them ) with large plates glued to the underneath of the floor.
Bailey agreed to have the van back and fix the problem under warranty.
We were not happy with this as having paid a lot of money why should we put up with bodged holes in the floor.
Bailey now refuse to repair the holes under warranty as we cannot prove they had done it and now want £300 + to glue two plates on.
Until we said we were not happy they were happy to repair free of charge!
Anyway I'm waffling, has anybody else had a similar problem with there floor and if so what was the outcome.
Bailey have been absolutely awful to deal with and took two letters off trading standards to get a descent reply.
This is all on top of a leaking roof for over six months, which they could not fix, a leaking rear locker door which soaks all the bedding, which they have not fixed and several other faults ie. split seams to the seats, broken locks, hydraulics to the roof lights broken etc. etc.
Any advice would be much appreciated

Your caravan is "not fit for purpose". Tell Bailey so, and demand a refund or a replacement.

The op has not posted back but it is interesting the that there are 2 of these caravans with similar serious faults & possibly the op could go the route of the other poster who suceeded in rejecting caravan & getting a refund?

Would be interested to know the outcome...it's just another bailey problem like the cracked panels. They don't seem to consider these faults a big issue and brush under the carpet.

Such a lot of money paid out when you buy a new van, more concern is shown by a shoe shop if you take back faulty shoes, than by these companies who are all fine and dandy when the salesman is taking that deposit.

I'm always a little suspicious of someone who's first (and only) post to a forum is a complaint about a product - PR department of a rival, maybe?

Let's wait until they come back with an update - if none, it suggests they were never really interested in our responses and we should take the whole story with a large pinch of salt.

Or maybe he has read the other very relevant thread, has decided to try the rejection route & does not want to further enlighten us at this stage or maybe any stage? If this is the case then his post on ukcs has worked for him & we can only wish him luck in a successful outcome?

But of course that shouldn't stop us speculating though.

Ours has been back to Bailey for 5 1/2 months for two leaks one at the front roof joint and one at the rear joint. So in the first year we had it for only 6 1/2 months, we have just come to twenty three months old and we have just spotted the water feature that they have added under the bed, dreading the next 12 months because i know its going to be nothing but hassle and stress. There are 5 of these vans on our site, and two have already gone back to Bailey. Tweet me on at M4LONEY for photos and further discussion, i need advice and help.
