Well, typical women (might as well blame someone..cue the wrath). The wife suddenly mentioned last night 'why don't we go away for easter in the caravan?'. 'Cos its a bit late isn't it? ' says I.
I emailed 3 sites yesterday and called one. Today I called 3 more and emailed 3. I used the Camping and Caravan club system to find the ones we fancy but its now nearly 4 and I'm no nearer to finding one mainly because no-one is answering the phone. I did call one in hunstanton but at £88 for 2 nights it's not going to happen.
The usual 2 hours travelling rule is being applied but I can't find anywhere - well I can find them. I just can't get a response. If the roads are going to be chaos anyway, should I stay or should I go...now?

Have you considered via the C&CC a DA rally or THS?
No booking so can decide when you are confident of the weather etc.

You will almost certainly have to live without an EHU.
If you "have" to have that then it will be an issue unless the weather turns nasty then there will be some pucker site/CL cancellations to be sure.

Try Drewery Caravan & Camp Site at California just north of Yarmouth - 01493 730845. They may not answer straight away as the office is only open at certain times out of season but they do live on site so you should manage to speak to someone reasonably quickly.

There was space at Seacroft CC site at Cromer an hour or so ago and that's open to non-members

Found one thanks folks. The other half has set minimum conditions and (understandably) sites without showers are a no no. Off to Rickels for 3 nights at easter and sod the weather.

Id be concerned (about what i was getting)if i could get a site so close to Easter. Ive tried dozens of times in the past a lot earlier than now, and never found anywhere.

Id never entertain a club site, or one of those 'holiday' sites as the prices are a joke.

I am fixed up this time around though.

I'm with JTQU,consider a C&CC THS or weekend meet if you manage without ehu and don't mind using your own toilet(what's all the fuss about).
I've been at work and received a phone call from my wife at 4pm to say she's hooked up and ready,as soon as i leave work we're off. Now that's short notice.

I no longer bother going away at bank hols, too much hassle trying to find a site with room, higher than usual prices and too much traffic on roads. I tend to go the wekend before or after, same place less hassle.

Which is why I stick to sites I know will have room and don't put their prices up - I can go to different sites on other weekends - and why I always travel very early going and late coming back, thereby missing the traffic, and I can honestly say I've never been stuck in a bank hol traffic jam yet.

Same here. Only if you have kids that can't go any other time. I leave the spaces for them... and go when it's quieter myself.

We were away this last week. Don't want to get involved with school holidays. Have to say that on our way North on M74 there were loads of 'vans heading south. Hope the weather improves for al, who are away.

We always stay clear in school holidays. It gives work colleagues with little ones more chance of getting the time off, plus its cheaper and quieter for us!
