Good Afternoon;

My partner and I are just purchased out first static caravan today :) We have been on a lot of static holidays and would highly recommend it.

We are struggling to find anyway that will accept privately owned static caravans. We would be willing to rent it out to the public but also wish to use for our own holidays. Can anyone help us....DESPERATE !!!

You bought a static without somewhere to site it?

Have you looked into the transport costs to move it?

How old is it? What sort of site do you want? Quiet retreat or a fun packed holiday park?

Then the big question budget? How much do you want to pay a year to site it? Dont forget service charges. Water rates? Any other rates?

Location? If you rent it out dont forget to budget for visits to handover the keys or go and do emergency repairs.

It would help if you gave a location. For example theres a site I've seen in the Clacton area that will site used statics brought in by owners, it might have been one of the St Osyth beach sites. Average annual site fee around here is just over £3k.

...Park Holidays appear to allow siting of customer's used statics & they have coastal sites from Suffolk around to Devon.

Obviously heed Grampian's excellent advice & only do it if you can afford it though, he has raised issues that I bet you never even dreamed of.

I have stayed at a site on the Kintyre peninsula that has a lot of static caravans as well as tents and tourers. I was told by the site owner that it works out to be no cost for having a static on the site.
He rents out the caravans, cleans then between rentals, makes sure all is in order etc and splits the rental income with the owner. I'm not sure of the exact details but I expect other sites will have a similar arrangement.
On this one he said if I could pay the deposit on a new static then the rental income would cover all the HP payments, site fees etc and I'd get to use it a reasonable amount of thje year.
If you own the van it should be an even better deal.

We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
