Help needed if possible? Just ordered a new van which has the Alko stability aid built in, not sure if I can get away with a 13 pin dual relay set up, around £30 or if I need the car specific loom which kicks in at around £200? Any help would be appreciated as I need to get the tow bar and electrics ordered/fitted pretty quick..
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
It won't actually matter what system is fitted as regards correct operation of Stability control provided 15amps can be sent down pin9 on 13pin plug & if either is fitted correctly it will.
The separate issue is that with modern high spec cars the fitting of bypass relays can sometimes cause annoying problems & general recomendation nowadays would be to fit specific loom. If you do have cheaper system fitted & it causes problems then the sensible solution would be to have it changed for specific wiring so your choice really.
Good advice, I will order up the dual relay and look out for any issues. It's a 63 plate astra sports tourer so not an old motor and has some electronic gizmos, rather spend less just now and if it doesn't work..ah well you live and learn.
Hi, if it's any help I've got an insignia sports tourer and I fitted the electrics with a bypass relay and it works spot on, although ours is a 2009 model I can't imagine it'll be any different as the new Astra under the body is exactly the same as the insignia.
