Hi going to Barmouth at Easter and was thinking of getting one of these http://www.tesco.com/direct/t-mobile-huawei-e5332-mobile-broadband-wifi-pay-as-you-go/521-1751.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=521-1751 Just wondering if anyone has bought one and have any thoughts on them.
Hi i don't, I was just wondering how good these are in Wales. Went to the site last year and couldn't get a 3g signal anywhere. Thought they may be handy and can just top up when i use it.
These are brilliant we use ours at our seasonal pitch in Cambridge where neither me or my husband can get a signal on our phones (tesco & BT).We have the unit mentioned above but on contract with Orange at £10 a month including the unit for 1 GB of data.
We can be on our phones, tablets & computers and get a brilliant fast reception. Just dont know what it would be like with a Tescos sim.
Tesco, when I was with them used the 02 network, probably they still do but it needs confirming with them.
According to bobmel's link O2 are displaying good 3G coverage in the Barmouth area. Again something I would check carefully with O2 if coverage there is imortant to you, as these maps I have found can be of "questionable" accuracy.
We bought a 3 dongle and it worked fine in porthmadog this last two weeks and now at lady heyes frodsham
We did have the vodaphone one but they changed the rules and went to a 30 day limit..
I am going to try a wifi antenna to see if they work
If you are staying at Hendre Mynach (one of our favourites) there have wifi on site for a small charge. I know some people object to paying for this on top but if your struggling to get a signal its handy.
On a side note I normally use my phone as a wifi hotspot on My 3 contract.
Hi Thanks for your replies we are staying Moelfre View in Tal y Bont. Stayed there last year and couldn't get a 3g signal. Hope the weather stays good.
We have MiFi with 3 which we take away with us, initially bought as pay as you go, about £80 with gb included then topped up as and when.
As OH works away, he now has it on contract. The bonus of MiFi over a dongle (yep he's had one of those as well) is you can move it around to get the best signal and you can use up to 5 devices at a time.
Obviously signal is dependant on 3G availability in whatever area you are staying and that's still hit and miss around the UK!!
Think 3 have the monopoly of the MiFi's but other places sell them such as Tesco mobile, so worth shopping around. Definitely a useful and handy device, we'l recommended
Best wishes Sam
It will amplify the 3g signal to the mifi device. I made an adapter for mine with a sucker on it so i could stick it to my roof. there is a pic in my gallery on top of my Challenger. I used to have the E5332 but now have the E5776 because it is 4G but the E5332 is great for 3G enjoy.
And i am on EE and have had few or little problems in most places in the UK. Also the E5332 is easy to unlock to all networks 99p code off ebay worked for me on both devices.
