I started this discussion and I have three lites a got the extra one of ebay so that when we went to france for 5 weeks last may we did not run out ,and yes we neede them as it was very cold over there and we used the heating a lot. there always seems to be lites for sale on ebay maybe calor should get them back that way. it just means that there are plenty of empty's out there but you can not get them filled. The cost of the deposit makes folks by of ebay many a time I have seen them for a £10 note and some times still have gas in them. lets hope calor pull there finger out for this spring..   malc1945

If everybody has 3 or 4 bottles in their possession you can understand calor's reluctance to keep producing them. If you're only exchanging 2 of them on a semi regular basis that's a lot of gas bottles tied up with no return on them for calor. The investment they make in producing the bottles means they need each bottle back 4 or 5 times to cover the cost of manufacturing. Because calor are a big company people think it's fine.

The Calor website now says this, "Please note: Due to limited availability a 7kg Butane and 6kg Propane can no longer be exchanged for a 6kg Calor Lite. The 6kg Calor Lite can however be exchanged for either cylinder in its group."

Yep, my dealer is certainly more flexible. Last year I swapped a 13kg patio gas and a 4.5kg butane for Calor Lites, so I wasn't even aware that the policy was that you could only swap the 6/7kg cylinders for a Calor Lite.

However when I refilled a Lite recently I asked the dealer and he said that currently due to the Lite shortage you had to have a Lite to receive a Lite refill/exchange.
