Help, horrified to find some small mould spots on the curtain linings on our Unicorn Barcelona. Can anyone please advise how to remove without damaging the curtains.
Many thanks

Mould spots are difficult to remove but the best solution would be to remove the curtains, apply some 'Vanish' stain remover then wash the curtains in the washing machine. What water temperature to use will depend on the curtain material but if they are Velour like ours, we washed ours at 30 degrees with a low spin speed and finally hung them on a clothes horse to dry. No problem with the results except ours didn't have mould spores but it's worth a try using 'Vanish' first before you condemn the curtains to the refuse bin. However, we did have some mould stains on one of the fly blinds but used Dettol Mould and Mildew spray which worked but the difference is that these are different material to the curtains.

'Milton' is a sterilising compound that contains a type of bleach so using this application is likely to cause the colour to disintegrate rather than treat the mould spots effectively.
I had a similar problem with mildew on curtain linings and flyscreens. With other posters' help, I was able to restore both to very good condition. Dilute Milton : water 1 : 10, sponge on to affected areas of curtains, leave for few minutes then rinse in cold water. Throw into washing machine to spin and hang to dry. Hope this helps.
Mould will form where there's food and damp, best way to stop it is to stop mucky fingers touching the curtains!
however! Please let us know if you have success as our boat curtains have suffered over the winter just where I sit when eating!
Thanks for all your replies and suggestions, I found a thread about this after I posted! I am going to try and deal with the curtains tomorrow, I'll let you know how I get on!
