Is it normal to have some kind of problem on most/every trip? We bought our (2007) van last sept. We had 2 trips last year and 2 this year. After each of the first 3 trips we've had to take the van back to the dealers for some kind of servicing/repairs from electrical stuff to lock being too stiff to use. Having just used it the right tail and registration plate lights were not working. My research has led me to think its a prob with pin 5 or lead on the car or caravan. I'm going to try our car electrics on a friends caravan to see if prob with car or caravan.
We really love our caravan but it would be lovely to just be able to use it without having to repair something each trip. Is this the norm or are we just unlucky?

That was the way with us when we first started caravaning but that was 30 years ago and we only had very old vans in them days but now I have found that before any trip check and test everything and even then when you think you have finished check again that way you can sort most things out before they happen but even that dose not stop things from going wrong but it dose help we have had about 2 years without a problem so just keep checking every thing.Ian

We felt just the same when we started a couple of years ago. Mostly problems with the water pump, a split water pipe etc. This last trip it was the dog's flexi lead that broke!! Still enjoying the caravan though.
hi your not the only one not only have we had problems with the caravan we bought a year ago also the tow car plays up every time we use it the last 4 months fixing and resealing the caravan 4 weeks ago we had a new clutch fitted and this weekend the ird transfer box decided to empty the entire contents (oil)all over the Motorway on route to a cc club site on the bright side got to site had a lovely weekend got back home.
We bought a brand new van last year and went back and forth to dealers - leaking pipe, grill wouldn't stay lit, tv aerial sockets wired up to satellite!!! So even with a new van , nothing is perfect!! Lol
