Got a full one in Cambridge and was told by the retailer that one of the problems is that people are holding onto their empties in the hope of a getting a new lite refill, only problem is that Calor are running out of lite bottles, so if we all hold onto the empties, guess what no more new full ones!

Bearing in mind how rare they are now...I will keep hold of them just in case etc.
Greetings,
Nah Then!!!
There speaks a genuine Tyke. And if he wern't (sic) born there, he's lived there long enough to have been assimilated
------------- How come when some people visit the fountain of knowledge, they only gargle!!!
There was an empty one at my local place not long ago - mine! I swapped it for a regular one - after all the caravan was designed to hold the weight of an ordinary bottle anyway, and they are cheaper.
When they are full there's not much difference in the weight, it's only when they are empty that you notice the difference.

There's 4.5kg difference between a normal and Lite cylinder, so whether it's full or empty there will always be 4.5kg difference.
I have two Lites in my FC, so that's 9kg less weight right near the hitch, so makes a noticeable difference to my nose weight, enough to keep it the right side of my limits. So for me definitely worth having.
The reason I changed was to reduce nose weight due to a change of car. Also like the gauge its quite handy as you never really know how much is left.
Plus the old one was empty anyway.

I stand corrected! That would make a lot of difference to noseweight if you're near your limit.
Watch out for that gauge though, it's not accurate. Mine lasted for a full two weeks more registering empty.
James - I'm changing over to having two small ones once this large one is done. They are so much easier to lift in and out of the locker for me.

Yep, it does. If I had normal bottles I'd have to be shifting more stuff from the locker to the inside of FC.

Yep, they definitely can't be used to gauge anything - they either show completely full and then suddenly drop to empty, no gradual change, or show empty when there's still gas. The only reliable way is to weigh the cylinder. I keep one of those digital luggage hang-on scales in the FC if I ever want to see what a bottle has left in it. With having an automatic gas changeover at lesat I can just let the cylinder run right down without worrying about it doing it during the middle of the night when I have the blown air heating on and having to traipse outside to switch over bottles!
